Frequently asked questions
Why does my social card look different from the preview?
This tool renders a faithful approximation of each platform's card layout. Minor differences can occur because platforms apply their own fonts, colour schemes, and image cropping, and they may cache an older version of your image or tags. After updating your meta tags, clear the platform cache using the Facebook Sharing Debugger, LinkedIn Post Inspector, or Twitter Card Validator to force a refresh.
Why is my image not showing in the preview?
The image URL must be publicly accessible — a URL behind a login, localhost, or a private CDN will not load. Paste the full absolute HTTPS URL. If the URL is correct and public but still not showing, the server may be blocking hotlinking or have a CORS policy that prevents the browser from loading it in this tool; the actual social platforms will still fetch it correctly from their servers.
What is the best image size for each platform?
Twitter/X and Facebook: 1200×630px (1.91:1 ratio). LinkedIn: 1200×627px. WhatsApp: 1200×630px, under 300 KB. Using a 1200×630px image covers all four platforms. Always keep the key content centred and away from the edges in case any platform crops slightly.
Do I need to set twitter:* tags separately from og:*?
Twitter/X reads twitter:* tags first and falls back to og:* when they are absent. The only tag you must add is twitter:card to opt into rich card display. Everything else — title, description, image — is inherited from og:* automatically. Use our OG Tag Generator to create the full tag block including twitter:card.
