Frequently asked questions

What is the chimp test?

It is a working memory test based on a famous study where young chimpanzees beat humans at remembering the positions of numbers on a screen.

How does scoring work?

You start with 4 numbers and get one more each time you clear a level. A wrong click is a strike, and after 3 strikes your score is the most numbers you cleared.

What is a good chimp test score?

Most people reach 8–10 numbers. 12 or more is very good, and above 15 puts you near the top.

How can I get a better score?

Look at the whole grid before clicking 1 and group nearby numbers into small patterns. Remembering shapes works better than remembering each number alone.
